Blog 25 - Last Presentation Reflection

This is a picture of putting pastels into use.

(1) Positive Statement

What are you most proud of in your block presentation and/or your senior project? Why?

I am really proud that I was able to get it done. I am really happy that I made time but also that Pang did not give me any recommendation. It shows that I did well and nothing went wrong with it. I am happy with my out come because I give it my all.

(2) Questions to Consider

a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your block presentation?  Use the component contract to defend that assessment.

AE, because I hit all the points that were needed. I also had not a lot of text and used more visuals just like i was recommended to. I also got no recommendations from my presenting teacher and he also liked it so much because it come out well and perfect in my eyes.

b.     What assessment would you give yourself on your overall senior project? Use the component contract to defend that assessment.

P, because I would give myself an AE but I did drop the ball when it came to research checks and also my notebook. However, I did give it my all and I do what was required and at the end I felt that I went above and beyond which it should balance out the negative outcomes that I had.

(3) What worked for you in your senior project?

I feel like the fact that I did good research because that allowed me to get the answers that I did. I also got the knowledge that I needed to make the answers great. It also is good because it helped me with my presentation skills.

(4) (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your senior project?

I would have not lost my notebook and actually try on making it great. My notebook is something that did drop my grade and I think if I did that I would have gotten a better grade.

(5) Finding Value

How has the senior project been helpful to you in your future endeavors?   Be specific and use examples.

I feel like I knew most of the stuff because I am so involved with a lot of things. It did make me learn how to manage my time because it is a lot of work throughout the year. I also think that it helped me know what a lot of work is because I thought I knew what work wad but it thought me that you might have to do a lot to get a great outcome.

Blog 24 - Exit Interview

The black gives that purple background the main focus of the place.
  1. What is your essential question, and what are your answers?  What is your best answer and why?
    1. My essential question is, how can an interior designer blend a client's ideas with his own to create a professional result. Answer one is really understanding the graphic design on a project and knowing the communication with the client. Answer two is knowing the environmental psychology of the different personalities that go with people and how to place them in  a comfortable environment. Answer three is the color psychology and really understanding how light effects the outcome visual of the final result. My best answer would be answer one only because there is where the base of the project is and you really cant do anything if you don't get to know your client.
  2. What process did you take to arrive at this answer?
    1. It took me a while to actually start realizing my answer(s) because I felt like they were really basic answers and not in depth. The books allowed me to get into that depth of my answer(s). Also my mentor helped me with that understanding of them as well.
  3. What problems did you face?  How did you resolve them?
    1. One struggle was not having a mentor and finding another one. It was a little hard but I ended up getting a great second mentor. During the time of me looking for one I worked with books so that I was able to get the knowledge that an expert would give me.
  4. What are the two most significant sources you used to answer your essential question and why?
    1. One of them is the book Interior Design by John F. Pile and the second one would be Interior Design by Jenny Gibbs. They had so much information and so much visuals so you can see what the meant by. They really helped me get that depth on all my answers with the help of all the other sources as well.

Blog 23 - Independent Component 2

I visual from SketchUp.

  • I, Mario Men., affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work
  • Homes : Issues + Processes. London: Black Dog Pub, 2011. & Color and Design. London ; New York: Berg Publishers, 2012. I also worked with my mentor Ernesto Lopez who has been working with businesses for a while now.
  • Independent Component 2
  • I worked on prom for the majority of the time and also read these two books. I helped with my mentor also so that I can get an understanding by what the books were saying. I also started the process for my sister's wedding and really just did some of the same things that I did for prom. I focused a lot on making sure prom comes out well. I finished with my 30 hours but I'm not done with my IC really until May 6th because that is when prom takes places and the main purpose of the IC2 is for me to see the result and what people think. So I will have to wait till then to finish the prom aspect of my IC.
  • The first two pictures are the books that I read over the course. The pictures of outside is the place that I went to go see with my sister her in Claremont. We discced about the contract and and due to personal information I couldn't display that. The final picture is at mentroship with one the projects and what we did to make the place more accessible to everyone that comes into the store. I don't have any results of prom because prom is not here but will post them up as soon as I can.
  • How did the component help you answer your EQ?
    • It really helped me understand the client's perspective and also really try to know the client. I got that sense of what the client feels when working with them because I felt it with not only at my mentorship but also with ASB. I had to work with what they gave me and make sure it comes out nice, I needed to blend all their ideas to one and also try to visualize it quick so I can give answers to them. It made me understand the thought process of a designer and what that person has to do with cleints. I got that feeling of i was in changer and I had to make sure I didn't give a wrong idea.

  4. List three reasons your answer is true with a real-world application for each.

    1.  Practicing Architecture by Nalina Moses
  7. Tie this together with a concluding thought.
    1.  I choose this answer because throughout most of my research it talks about placing items and also talks about the why you need to listen to your client since some people like to place somethings in one place while others want it somewhere else.
